WHY NIGHT SHIFT?

I should probably begin with the fact that this isn’t my full-time job. When I’m not traveling for work I am home with my family. The idea for this company started from just being handy around the house and just wanting to have something where I could be home with my kids and wife.

After numerous home projects I was asked to make a few smaller furniture pieces for friends… When I finished, I decided I really wanted to have a logo or brand. That way if they sold it in a few years I’d see it at a garage sale and know I made that some time ago.

The name NIGHT SHIFT came from that being the most common time that I worked on things. My wife and I would get the kids to bed and hang out for a bit. She would go to lay down for an early work day and I would head downstairs to come up with a new project.

I think I started with cutting boards and clocks because I was working out of a basement and after a few larger projects in the beginning I just didn’t want to carry heavy stuff up and down the stairs anymore. I have since really grown to enjoy the smaller projects because I can really get creative with something. Then the next week I can go in a completely different direction.

Know this: When you buy something from my shop that means I thought about it... I made it… I packed it... I took it to the post office (unless I can talk my wife into it)…
